Swindon’s loanee sent a ten-word message after a sparkling first half of the season with the Robins…

Jake Young: “I’m playing the best football of my career at Swindon.”

Jake Young says he is not thinking about being recalled by Bradford in January after a sparkling first half of the season on loan at Swindon.

He said: “There is not a lot I can say to make the fans and the lads feel better, but we have just got to stick together.

“It is a small and tight group and it is only us that can get us out of it, it is as simple as that.

“The fans have got to stick with us too, I know it is tough, if we won tonight, we are back in the play-offs, in this league if you put a little run together, then who knows what can happen?

“We are a tight-knit group off the pitch, and it has a good feeling that you don’t get at every club, we just need to transition that to the pitch.

“We understand the pain [the supporters have], we are all football fans and if we were paying our money and making a journey like they have made tonight then of course they deserve some explanation.

“There are mixed opinions there, there are fans that are sticking with us and there are fans that think we can do more.

“I know it is hard, but going against us is not going to help, stick with us, you have seen the quality in those first ten games and we want more than anyone to bring that confidence back and show that.”

Young said that the squad need to be getting all of the small things right during the week to get the wins they need to restore that confidence.

He said: “There are all sorts of little things in training, doing it right and looking at what has gone wrong and trying to put it right.

“There is a lot that goes on to get the results, it doesn’t just happen overnight, it is about looking at the little things we need to change and then you get your rewards on a weekend.”
