The Bruins have confirmed the signing of another experienced superstar…

The Boston Bruins have inked goaltender Michael DiPietro to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced on Wednesday.

This agreement, valued at a $775,000 cap hit, is effective through the 2024-25 NHL season.

DiPietro, who has yet to make his NHL debut with the Bruins, is currently completing his inaugural full season with the Providence team. Demonstrating solid performance, the 24-year-old has amassed a 17-8-4 record across 26 games in Providence, boasting a .917 save percentage and a 2.52 goals-against average.

Originally selected by the Canucks in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, DiPietro arrived at the Bruins through a trade in October 2022, with Jack Studnicka heading to Vancouver in exchange. Despite limited NHL experience, having played only three games over three seasons with the Canucks, DiPietro’s potential has caught the Bruins’ attention.

While the Bruins currently boast Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark as their primary goaltenders, having depth in this pivotal position is advantageous. Providence also features Brandon Bussi, who boasts a commendable 19-9-3 record with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.
