The Baltimore Ravens have been relatively quiet in the 2024 NFL offseason, save for their significant acquisition of Derrick Henry. However, with over ten players departing for other teams, they have numerous positions to fill. In light of this, they are turning their attention to free agency, with former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup on their radar.
Gallup, who signed a hefty five-year, $62.5 million contract with the Cowboys in 2022 despite recovering from an ACL injury, failed to deliver the expected results. His performance dipped, and he struggled to reclaim his place in the lineup amidst stiff competition. Ultimately, Dallas let him go to free up salary cap space.
Despite Gallup’s underwhelming tenure in Dallas, the Ravens see potential value in him, especially if they can secure him for a more reasonable contract. While they have emerging talents like Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, along with reliable options such as Nelson Agholor and Mark Andrews, they could benefit from adding another receiving threat, particularly with the shrinking pool of free agents.
While the Ravens seem to have their WR1 in Flowers and a solid tight end option in Andrews, they lack depth at the wide receiver position. With the draft unlikely to be a primary source for addressing this need due to recent departures and the dwindling free agent market, Gallup presents an attractive opportunity for the Ravens to bolster their passing game.
