The Minnesota Twins extend their spring training roster.
The Twins can trim their active roster to 26 players in 17 days.
On Monday, the Twins revealed their second round of spring cutbacks. Four pitchers—three righties and one lefty—were added to the roster.
The four incisions were as follows:
LHP Brent Headrick
R.H. Simeon Richardson Woods
R.H. RHP Matt Canterino David Festa
Festa was moved to the Twins’ minor league camp, while Headrick, Woods Richardson, and Canterino were optioned to Triple-A St. Paul. Out of the four, Festa was the only one not included on the Twins’ 40-man roster.
Minnesota may finalize their 26-man roster, which can include no more than 13 pitchers, by March 28. Ten of the 46 players the Twins have participating in Spring Training are non-roster invitees.
The roster’s current composition:
22 pitchers (4 bench players)
Five catchers (two non-roster)
3 non-rosters among the 10 infielders
Seven outfielders (one non-roster)
Two versatile players (one non-roster)
There is just one Twins player listed as injured for 60 days.
On March 28, Minnesota takes on Kansas City in the 2024 season opener.
