Colts re-sign DT Grover Stewart to a three-year, $39 million deal extension, according to a report
The Indianapolis Colts have secured the services of defensive tackle Grover Stewart for another three years with a contract extension worth $39 million, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This extension for Stewart follows closely after the Colts reached a two-year agreement with edge rusher Tyquan Lewis. It demonstrates the team’s commitment, under the leadership of general manager Chris Ballard, to retaining their own free agents before exploring other options in the market.
Stewart has been a crucial component of the Colts’ defensive line, particularly excelling in stopping the run, over the past few seasons. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, he now solidifies his future in Indianapolis with this substantial extension.

Despite facing a six-game suspension last season, Stewart has maintained high availability throughout his tenure with the Colts, appearing in all 17 games in two of the last three seasons.
His absence during the suspension was keenly felt, with the Colts’ run defense showing a noticeable decline, conceding 4.7 yards per carry and 153 rushing yards per game in that period compared to 3.7 yards per carry previously. This underscores Stewart’s significant impact, likely a key factor in the Colts’ decision to retain him.
In the 2023 season, the 30-year-old defensive tackle amassed 41 combined tackles (23 solo), along with half a sack, five tackles-for-loss, and eight quarterback hits in 11 games played.
