Senators Trade Vladimir Tarasenko to Panthers for Draft Picks
The Ottawa Senators have traded forward Vladimir Tarasenko to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2024 and a third-round draft pick in 2025.
As part of the deal, the Senators will retain 50% of Tarasenko’s salary, providing them with $7,200,000 in cap space. The condition on the 2024 draft pick stipulates that if the Florida Panthers win the 2024 Stanley Cup, the pick will upgrade to become Florida’s 2026 third-round draft pick.
With the acquisition of these draft picks, the Senators now possess 21 draft picks over the next three NHL Drafts, although their positions may change depending on Florida’s performance.
Tarasenko has played 57 games for the Senators since signing a one-year deal in the offseason, recording 17 goals and 24 assists for a total of 47 points. After spending most of his career in St. Louis, Tarasenko is moving to a contending team at the trade deadline for the second consecutive season. Over his 12 NHL seasons, he has accumulated 287 goals and 328 assists, totaling 615 career points.
