Texans Favorites to land the 27-year-old Running Back ahead of the trade deadline…

The Houston Texans are emerging as frontrunners in the race to sign star running back Saquon Barkley, who will hit the free agency market on March 13 along with several other running backs. DraftKings Sportsbook has placed the Texans at -200 odds, indicating they have the best chance of securing Barkley’s services.

Adding Barkley to their roster would be a significant upgrade for the Texans at the running back position. With three 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his six-year career, Barkley offers impressive stats and versatility. Although he fell just short of the milestone in 2023, his performance with the New York Giants still showcased his value, tallying 962 rushing yards and six touchdowns, along with 46 receptions for 280 yards and four touchdowns.

However, if the Texans fail to land Barkley, they have a viable backup plan in Josh Jacobs. Also possessing impressive skills, Jacobs had a solid season with the Las Vegas Raiders, rushing for 805 yards and six touchdowns, while also contributing in the passing game with 37 receptions for 296 yards.

Aside from Barkley and Jacobs, the Texans have other options to consider in free agency, including Austin Ekeler, Derrick Henry, Tony Pollard, and the possibility of re-signing Devin Singletary, who had a standout season with 898 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Ultimately, the Texans have a chance to bolster their running back position significantly through free agency, with Barkley standing out as a prime target.
