A former SMU recruit has confirmed his plans to visit the University of Texas this summer.
Despite the ongoing recruiting efforts of the Texas Longhorns coaching staff, Steve Sarkisian and his team have managed to secure another important recruit for an official visit in June.

Rickey Stewart, a highly-regarded four-star running back from Tyler Chapel Hill, revealed on Monday his intention to take an official visit to Texas during the weekend of June 14th. Stewart had previously committed to SMU but reconsidered his options after receiving an offer from the Longhorns.
Currently, Stewart has only scheduled the official visit to Texas for the summer. However, this could change as other schools also aim to secure commitments during the busy visitation months. Texas is aiming to recruit two running backs for this class, and Stewart, along with Jordon Davison from Mater Dei, is generating significant interest.
Respect my decision. Thank you SMU for the opportunity but I am announcing my decommitment! pic.twitter.com/soYjC7Z9US

Stewart has been an exceptionally productive player in Texas over the last couple of seasons, accumulating over 5,000 rushing yards and nearly 60 touchdowns on the ground. In 2023, he narrowly missed reaching 2,900 rushing yards and is eager to finish his high school career on a strong note in the upcoming fall season.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Stewart is ranked as the 20th-best running back prospect in the nation and the 251st overall prospect.
