OFFICIAL PANTHERS’ NEWS: The Florida Panthers Have Officially Added A New Face To Their Roster, Bringing In Former Maple Leafs Superstar to Amerant Bank Arena…READ MORE IN COMMENTS>>

The 32-year-old Pickard, who last played with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2024 season, joins the Panthers in a surprise move that adds experience and reliability behind starter Sergei Bobrovsky and rising young backup Spencer Knight. The deal is reportedly worth $1.2 million for the 2025–26 season.

Pickard arrives at Amerant Bank Arena with a reputation for being a steady, team-first presence and a capable plug-and-play option when called upon. He spent a portion of his career with the Maple Leafs during a transitional phase and quickly became a fan-favorite for his work ethic, professionalism, and ability to step in under pressure.

“Calvin is a proven goaltender with a wealth of experience,” said Panthers GM Bill Zito in a press release. “He gives us great depth at the position and adds a calming veteran presence to our locker room. We’re excited to welcome him to South Florida.”

During his NHL career, Pickard has appeared in over 130 games, posting a .904 save percentage across stints with the Avalanche, Leafs, Red Wings, Flyers, and Oilers. While not a long-term starter, his ability to deliver solid performances in spot duty has made him a valuable asset on any roster.

With the Panthers aiming to remain Stanley Cup contenders, Pickard’s addition provides insurance in the crease — especially with the team managing the workload of Bobrovsky and the development of Knight.

Pickard expressed his excitement about the new chapter in a statement through the team:

“I’m thrilled to join such a competitive and hungry organization. The Panthers have built something special, and I’m looking forward to contributing in any way I can to help the team win.”

As the Panthers gear up for another deep postseason run, this low-risk, high-reward signing could prove crucial down the stretch.

One more piece added. Eyes on the Cup.
