PITTSBURGH – Legendary Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger is officially returning to the franchise, but this time in a new capacity. The Steelers’ all-time passing leader has announced that he will be rejoining the team as a special advisor and mentor, offering his expertise to the next generation of Steelers quarterbacks.

Roethlisberger, who retired after the 2021 season following an 18-year career with the Steelers, has remained closely connected to the franchise. His new role will focus on mentoring Pittsburgh’s young quarterbacks, including current starter Kenny Pickett, as well as providing insight to the coaching staff.

“I’ve always said Pittsburgh is home, and the Steelers are family,” Roethlisberger said in a statement. “I’m excited to be back in the building, working with the team and doing whatever I can to help bring another championship to this city.”

During his illustrious career, Roethlisberger led the Steelers to two Super Bowl victories (XL, XLIII), appeared in a third (XLV), and set numerous franchise records, including most passing yards, touchdowns, and wins as a starting quarterback. Known for his toughness and clutch performances, he helped define an era of Steelers football.

While Roethlisberger’s exact responsibilities have yet to be fully detailed, sources indicate he will play a role in quarterback development, film study, and mentoring players on and off the field. His return has been met with excitement from both fans and current players, many of whom view him as an invaluable resource.

Head coach Mike Tomlin expressed his enthusiasm about Roethlisberger’s return: “Ben has a wealth of knowledge and experience that can be incredibly beneficial to our team. His presence in the locker room and on the practice field will be a great asset.”

With Roethlisberger back in the fold, the Steelers hope his leadership and winning mentality will help guide the team back to championship contention.
