The University of Florida has officially broken ground on a monumental renovation project for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, transforming “The Swamp” into one of the most state-of-the-art and largest stadiums in college football. The project, which will expand the stadium’s seating capacity to over 100,000, is set to redefine the game-day experience for Gators fans while solidifying Florida’s status as one of the premier programs in the nation.
The Gators’ historic stadium, originally built in 1930, has long been one of the most intimidating atmospheres in college football. With this ambitious expansion and modernization, Florida aims to enhance fan experience, improve player facilities, and position the university for long-term success in both athletics and recruiting.
Florida’s Athletic Director Scott Stricklin spoke about the significance of the project:
“This is a game-changer for Florida football and our entire athletic program. We are committed to giving our student-athletes and fans the best experience possible, and this new Ben Hill Griffin Stadium will be one of the most electrifying venues in college football.”
