The Chicago Blackhawks have officially announced the departure of defenseman Seth Jones, who has been traded to the Florida Panthers. In exchange, the Blackhawks receive a conditional first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and goaltender Spencer Knight.

Seth Jones, a four-time All-Star, had previously expressed frustration with the Blackhawks’ performance and indicated a willingness to waive his no-movement clause. At 30 years old, Jones has recorded seven goals and 20 assists in 42 games this season, leading the team in average ice time and power-play points.

This move is part of a series of significant roster changes for the Blackhawks. Earlier in the season, forward Taylor Hall was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in a three-team deal involving the Colorado Avalanche. Additionally, the Blackhawks terminated the contract of veteran forward Corey Perry in November 2023 due to conduct violations.

These departures underscore the Blackhawks’ ongoing efforts to rebuild and reorient their roster for future competitiveness.
