SAD NEWS: More bad news for the Phillies and Rob Thomson from spring training…

On February 25, right-handed pitcher Devin Sweet sustained a right triceps contusion after being struck by a line drive during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He was promptly removed from the game, and his return is currently listed as day-to-day.

In a separate incident, utility player Weston Wilson, who was a leading candidate for the team’s final bench spot, suffered a “freak accident” injury. This unexpected development has intensified the competition for the remaining roster position, as other players now have an increased opportunity to secure the spot.

The Phillies’ spring training schedule has also been affected by inclement weather. A game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, scheduled for February 24, was canceled due to rain. Fans holding tickets for the canceled game have been advised to contact the BayCare Ballpark box office or the Phillies box office to arrange exchanges for future dates.

Despite these setbacks, the Phillies are focused on their upcoming spring training games. Their next game is scheduled against the Toronto Blue Jays on February 26, 2025, at 10:07 AM PST. The team aims to use these games to evaluate player performances and make necessary adjustments before the regular season commences.
