The Pittsburgh Steelers are among the teams eyeing a potential blockbuster move for San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver. However, they aren’t alone in the race, as two of their AFC North rivals—the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals—are also emerging as serious contenders for his services.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently discussed Samuel’s trade market on The Pat McAfee Show, suggesting that Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cincinnati all make sense as potential landing spots for the 29-year-old playmaker.
“I think it’s hard to pinpoint right now where Deebo would go,” Schefter said. “I could see him in Pittsburgh, I could see him in Baltimore, I could see him in a lot of those places. Any of those AFC North teams make sense.”
Baltimore, despite already having Rashod Bateman and Zay Flowers, could use another reliable target to strengthen their passing attack. Samuel’s physicality, versatility, and ability to generate yards after the catch make him a perfect fit for the Ravens’ offense.
Meanwhile, the Bengals could be in desperate need of receiver help if Tee Higgins departs. While Andrei Iosivas has flashed potential, adding an experienced, dynamic weapon like Samuel would help maintain the firepower of Cincinnati’s offense.
Samuel is reportedly seeking a trade out of San Francisco, with one year remaining on his contract. He is owed $17.5 million for the 2025 season, though none of that money is guaranteed, making a trade more feasible. However, the 49ers may have to retain some of his salary to facilitate a deal.
This past season, Samuel played in 15 games, recording 51 receptions for 670 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed 136 rushing yards and an additional score on the ground.
With multiple teams in the mix, the race for Samuel’s services is heating up, and the AFC North could soon see one of its contenders land a game-changing talent.
