In a significant development for the San Diego Padres, veteran left-handed pitcher José Quintana has agreed to a four-year contract, marking his return to the Padres after a successful tenure with the team. The contract also features performance incentives, including $100,000 for a World Series Most Valuable Player award, $50,000 each for a Gold Glove, All-Star selection, and League Championship Series Most Valuable Player, and $50,000 for a Cy Young award, with additional bonuses for second and third-place finishes.
José Quintana, now 36 years old, brings a wealth of experience and stability to the Padres’ pitching staff. Over the past three seasons, he has compiled a 3.39 ERA, 1.246 WHIP, and 7.3 strikeouts per nine innings in 76 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Mets.
