In exchange, the Marlins receive a trio of promising prospects: infielders Echedry Vargas and Max Acosta, and left-handed pitcher Brayan Mendoza.
Burger, 28, has emerged as a formidable force at the plate over the past two seasons, belting 63 home runs while maintaining a .250 batting average and a .488 slugging percentage across stints with the Chicago White Sox and the Marlins. His consistent power and versatility at both first and third base make him a valuable addition to the Rangers’ lineup.
The Marlins initially acquired Burger from the White Sox in August 2023, aiming to bolster their offense for a postseason push. However, under the leadership of president of baseball operations Peter Bendix, Miami has shifted towards a rebuilding strategy, trading established players like Luis Arraez, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Tanner Scott, and Trevor Rogers to build a sustainable future.

Vargas, 19, showcased his potential in Single-A last season, posting a .276 batting average with 14 home runs and 29 stolen bases. Acosta, 22, delivered a solid performance at Double-A, achieving a .288 batting average with 34 extra-base hits and 26 steals. Mendoza, a 20-year-old southpaw, impressed across both A-ball levels, recording a 2.32 ERA with 109 strikeouts over 101 innings.
