In a surprising yet intriguing move, the New York Mets have agreed to terms on a minor league deal with former ace Noah Syndergaard, paving the way for a potential return to the big leagues with his old club.
Syndergaard, a key part of the Mets’ rotation during his tenure from 2015 to 2021, was instrumental in their 2015 World Series run and became a fan favorite with his electrifying fastball and dominant performances. However, injuries derailed his career in recent years, leading to stints with multiple teams as he attempted to regain his form.
“We’re excited to have Noah back in the organization,” said Mets General Manager David Stearns. “He’s a competitor, and we believe he still has the ability to contribute. This deal gives him a chance to work his way back and prove he can help our team.”
