New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto has addressed rumors suggesting dissatisfaction with the New York Yankees over how they treated his family during the 2024 season. In an interview with Grandes en Los Deportes on December 20, Soto dismissed the claims as false.
“That’s a lie,” Soto asserted, as reported by MLB insider Héctor Gómez. He further praised the Yankees, describing their staff as “tremendous” and stating his family was “treated very well by the organization.”
Soto’s move to the Mets on a record-setting 15-year, $765 million contract came after reports hinted at family-oriented motivations and Mets owner Steve Cohen’s commitment to fostering a welcoming atmosphere. While the Yankees reportedly offered a comparable 15-year, $760 million deal, Soto’s choice ultimately solidified him as the face of a recharged Mets lineup.
With this clarification, Soto aims to focus on his future in Queens, ready to lead the Mets toward championship aspirations while appreciating his time in the Bronx.
