OFFICIAL METS NEWS: Mets Owner Steve Cohen Officially Commits $916.25 Million to Five Free Agents This Offseason, Four of Which Are…

The New York Mets are solidifying their rotation, re-signing ace Sean Manaea on a three-year, $75 million deal pending a physical. Manaea, a pivotal figure in 2024, posted a 12-6 record with a 3.47 ERA over 32 starts and declined a $21.05 million qualifying offer to explore free agency.

This move is part of Mets owner Steve Cohen’s $916.25 million offseason spending spree, which includes the record-setting $765 million deal for Juan Soto and contracts for pitchers Frankie Montas, Clay Holmes, and Griffin Canning. Holmes, a two-time All-Star, plans to transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation.

Manaea’s performance in 2024, including a strong stretch run and playoff contributions, highlighted his value. Adjusting his mechanics midseason helped him excel, mimicking NL Cy Young winner Chris Sale. The Mets’ 2025 rotation now boasts Manaea, Montas, Holmes, Kodai Senga, and David Peterson, with depth options like Tylor Megill and Paul Blackburn.

Over his nine-year career, Manaea is 77-62 with a 4.00 ERA, including a no-hitter in 2018. His signing reflects the Mets’ aggressive bid for a championship-caliber roster.
