Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm has expressed a strong interest in solidifying his future with the team by signing a long-term contract. Addressing recent speculations about his future, Bohm made it clear that his heart lies in Philadelphia, where he has blossomed into a key contributor for the franchise.
“I love playing here,” Bohm said during a media session at Citizens Bank Park. “This organization has been amazing to me, and the fans are incredible. It’s something special to be a part of. I’d love to be here for a long time.”
Bohm, 27, has been a staple in the Phillies’ lineup since making his debut in 2020. Known for his consistent bat and improving defense at the hot corner, Bohm has become a reliable presence for the team. In 2023, he posted a .287/.341/.426 slash line with 17 home runs and 92 RBIs, marking a career-best season and further solidifying his place as a cornerstone of the Phillies’ roster.
Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski acknowledged Bohm’s importance to the team and hinted at the possibility of extension talks. “Alec has been a big part of our success,” Dombrowski said. “He’s a player we value highly, and we’re always open to discussions that align with our long-term vision.”
Speculation about Bohm’s future arose amid rumors of potential trade scenarios and the Phillies’ pursuit of additional roster flexibility. However, Bohm’s comments have put those rumors to rest, reassuring fans that he sees himself as an integral part of the team’s future.
“I’m focused on what I can do to help this team win,” Bohm said. “If the opportunity to stay here long-term comes up, I’d absolutely be interested. Philly has become home to me.”
The Phillies, fresh off a deep postseason run, are poised to contend once again in 2024. With a strong core that includes stars like Bryce Harper and Trea Turner, securing Bohm on a long-term deal would further stabilize the team’s foundation.
As the offseason progresses, Phillies fans will be eager to see if Bohm’s desire to remain in Philadelphia leads to an agreement that keeps the talented third baseman in red pinstripes for years to come.
