The New York Mets have set the baseball world abuzz with their blockbuster signing of Juan Soto, and the superstar outfielder has wasted no time sharing his excitement about teaming up with Francisco Lindor. Soto, who joined the Mets on a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal (potentially worth $805 million with incentives), is already looking forward to building a dynamic partnership with Lindor that could lead the Mets to their first World Series title since 1986.
Soto, 26, made the move from the New York Yankees after a stellar 2024 season, during which he helped his former team reach the World Series. Speaking to SNY’s Steve Gelbs, Soto expressed his enthusiasm for what he and Lindor can achieve together.
“Now, having the chance to do the same thing [I did with Judge] with Francisco, I think, is going to be special,” Soto said. “He has a lot of stuff to tell me. I have a lot of stuff to tell him to improve our game, and I think it’s exciting. It’s exciting to find little things to get better [at] every day. To have your brother next to you, try to cheer for you, to push you to be the best out of you.”
Soto and Lindor both had exceptional 2024 campaigns. Soto posted a .312/.437/.577 slash line with 36 home runs and 110 RBIs, further cementing his status as one of baseball’s elite hitters. Lindor, meanwhile, delivered his best offensive season yet, tallying 33 home runs, 91 RBIs, and an .844 OPS while maintaining his trademark defensive excellence at shortstop.
Mets Set Their Sights on 2025 Glory
The Mets came tantalizingly close to the World Series in 2024, falling two wins short against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. Now, with Soto joining an already potent lineup, they’ve elevated from contenders to favorites.
