The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly poised to make a splash this offseason, targeting All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman as a replacement for Alec Bohm. With free agency in full swing, Bregman has emerged as a prime candidate to fortify the Phillies’ infield and enhance their championship aspirations.
Phillies Predicted to Sign Bregman for $26M Annually
According to Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter, Bregman could command a lucrative deal worth $26 million annually. This potential contract would mark a significant raise for the former Houston Astros star, whose previous five-year, $100 million deal has expired.
Reuter speculates that the Phillies may be the frontrunners for Bregman if they find a trade partner for Alec Bohm, who struggled during the second half of the 2024 season despite showing flashes of power.
“A $26 million AAV would represent a solid raise and lucrative overall payday on a long-term deal, and if the Phillies can find the right deal to move Alec Bohm, they might be the favorites to land him,” Reuter explained.

Bregman’s 2024 campaign highlighted his elite defensive abilities, earning him his first career Gold Glove Award. He led Major League Baseball with 103 putouts at third base and topped the American League in assists (242), double plays turned (23), and fielding percentage (.972).
