The Miami Hurricanes have landed a major addition to their 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of highly-rated defensive lineman. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound standout chose Miami over a host of top programs, including Georgia, Alabama, and Florida State, solidifying the Hurricanes’ growing reputation as a powerhouse in the recruiting landscape.
Simmons, a four-star prospect out of Atlanta, Georgia, is ranked among the top defensive linemen in the nation. Known for his explosive first step and ability to dominate the line of scrimmage, Simmons brings a rare combination of size, strength, and athleticism. His junior season was a showcase of his potential, recording 15 sacks and 27 tackles for loss while anchoring his team’s defense.
“I felt like Miami was the best fit for me,” Simmons said during his announcement. “Coach [Mario] Cristobal and the staff have been great throughout this process, and I really believe in what they’re building. I’m ready to help bring championships back to Miami.”
Simmons’ commitment bolsters a Miami recruiting class that continues to climb in national rankings. His addition addresses a key need for the Hurricanes, who are focused on enhancing their defensive front to compete at the highest level in the ACC and beyond.
Miami’s coaching staff, particularly defensive line coach Jason Taylor, played a significant role in securing Simmons’ commitment. Taylor’s NFL pedigree and success in developing players at the college level were pivotal in winning over Simmons and his family.
With Simmons on board, Miami’s 2025 recruiting class now features several blue-chip players, further demonstrating the program’s momentum under Cristobal’s leadership. Hurricanes fans can look forward to seeing Simmons wreak havoc in the trenches when he arrives on campus.
