After an intense game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders, Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson shared a heartfelt message for his former Seattle Seahawks teammate, linebacker Bobby Wagner. Despite playing on opposing teams, Wilson and Wagner, both drafted in 2012 by Seattle, maintain a close bond, which they celebrated after Pittsburgh’s narrow 28-27 victory.
In the game, Wilson showcased his leadership, throwing for 195 yards and three touchdowns, including a crucial 32-yard pass to wide receiver Mike Williams with just over two minutes left. This play proved decisive, lifting the Steelers to a 7-2 record and keeping them at the top of the AFC North. Wilson’s other key plays included a 16-yard touchdown pass to George Pickens and a game-changing touchdown run by Najee Harris.
The Steelers’ defense also played a significant role, led by Cam Heyward, who pressured Commanders’ rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels with three sacks and eight tackles for loss. Washington managed to keep the game close, with Austin Ekeler scoring a touchdown and the Commanders taking a 27-21 lead in the third quarter. However, Pittsburgh’s resilience paid off as they sealed the victory with Wilson’s final connection to Williams.
After the game, Wilson and Wagner commemorated their friendship by exchanging jerseys with messages written on them, as seen in Wilson’s Instagram post. Their enduring connection, built on mutual respect and shared experiences, was a highlight of the night, showing that even in fierce competition, friendship prevails.
