The Miami (FL) football team continues to make waves in the recruiting world, landing a major commitment from four-star wide receiver. This promising prospect, hailing from Fort Lauderdale and starring at American Heritage High School, has chosen to re-commit to the Hurricanes after briefly exploring other options.
Toney’s decision comes on the heels of Miami’s impressive 8-0 start to the season, which has garnered significant attention from recruits across Florida. The recent victory over Florida State solidified the Hurricanes’ standing and showcased their program’s resurgence.
Initially decommitting in early October, Toney considered offers from powerhouse programs like Florida State, Kentucky, Alabama, and No. 1 ranked Oregon. However, he ultimately returned to Miami, marking him as another key local recruit for the Hurricanes.
In a significant move, Toney also confirmed he will graduate from high school early, reclassifying from the 2026 class to 2025. This decision allows him to enroll at Miami sooner, providing an opportunity to join the team right away. His ability to adapt and contribute quickly will be crucial as he steps into a dynamic offensive system.
Toney’s on-field performance has been impressive this season, with 54 receptions for 964 yards and 12 touchdowns. He notably shone against state powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, catching nine passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns in a thrilling 42-38 victory.
Scouting reports describe Toney as a versatile slot receiver, capable of becoming a go-to playmaker in Miami’s spread offense. His skills, coupled with a solid relationship with the coaching staff—who welcomed him back without any ill feelings—indicate he will be a valuable addition to the program.
With Toney’s commitment, Miami’s 2025 recruiting class has risen to No. 11 overall, adding to the momentum as they prepare to face Duke at Hard Rock Stadium. This move strengthens Miami’s wide receiver corps and underscores their ongoing commitment to building a competitive program for the future.
