LATEST KNIGHTS NEWS: 29-year-old Well Experienced and NHL’s Prominent Defenceman Stuns T-Mobile Arena; Signing a  7-Year Extension Worth…

The Vegas Golden Knights have officially locked in one of their most pivotal players, Shea Theodore, with a major contract extension. On Thursday, October 24, the team announced that the 29-year-old defenseman has signed a seven-year extension worth $7.425 million annually. Theodore, who was a pending unrestricted free agent, has had a strong start to the 2024-25 season with one goal and six assists for seven points in just six games.

This new deal comes as Theodore enters the final year of his previous seven-year contract, which carried an annual value of $5.2 million. The substantial pay raise reflects his continued excellence on the ice. Last season, despite playing only 47 games, Theodore registered five goals and 37 assists, totaling 42 points. Over his career, split between the Anaheim Ducks and the Golden Knights, Theodore has notched 72 goals and 241 assists, amassing 313 points in 503 games, an impressive 0.62 points-per-game average.

Theodore’s contributions were instrumental in the Golden Knights’ 2022-23 Stanley Cup championship. Drafted by the Anaheim Ducks 26th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Theodore developed into a premier defenseman after strong performances in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Seattle Thunderbirds. His steady growth led to a full-time NHL role with Vegas in 2018-19, and he has since become a cornerstone of their defensive unit.

With this new extension, Theodore solidifies his long-term future with the Golden Knights, ensuring that he remains a key piece of their blue line as they aim for continued success under head coach Bruce Cassidy.
