The Atlanta Braves have announced the hiring of Tim Hyers as their new hitting coach, a move set to bolster their offensive strategy. Hyers, 53, brings a wealth of experience, having spent the last three seasons with the Texas Rangers, where he contributed to their World Series win in 2023.
This appointment comes after a shakeup in manager Brian Snitker’s coaching staff, which saw longtime hitting coach Kevin Seitzer, along with two other coaches, let go following the Braves’ early exit from the playoffs. Seitzer had been with the team for 10 years, but injuries and offensive struggles led to significant changes.
Hyers is no stranger to success, having previously served as hitting coach for the Boston Red Sox (2018-2021) and the assistant hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers. During his coaching career, he’s mentored several Silver Slugger winners and helped build championship-caliber offenses.
As an Atlanta native and a former major leaguer with the Padres, Tigers, and Marlins, Hyers’ return to his hometown adds an exciting layer to the Braves’ efforts to strengthen their lineup and address offensive gaps. With his proven track record and strong ties to the city, Hyers looks poised to make a significant impact on the Braves as they prepare for the 2025 season.
