The Denver Broncos are making moves to bolster their offense by targeting a versatile running back. With rookie quarterback Bo Nix struggling to find consistency, the Broncos’ ground game has been underwhelming, ranking 22nd in attempts and 23rd in yards. A trade might be the perfect remedy.
With the Los Angeles Rams starting their season at 1-4, and potentially falling to 2-6 by the trade deadline, the Broncos are reportedly eyeing Kyren Williams to fill the void in their offense.
Running back might not seem like a glaring need for the Broncos, but the current roster lacks versatility. Williams could be the dynamic piece the Broncos need, capable of boosting an offense that has been stuck in neutral. A trade proposal could see Williams make his way to Denver in exchange for quarterback Zach Wilson and a 2025 fourth-round pick.
Broncos Receive:
- Kyren Williams
Rams Receive:
- Zach Wilson
- 2025 fourth-round pick
Williams, who has one year remaining on his four-year, $3.9 million contract, would fit seamlessly into Sean Payton‘s offensive scheme. The Rams, on the other hand, would acquire Wilson, a former No. 2 overall draft pick, which could offer insurance as they prepare for life beyond Matthew Stafford, who is approaching the twilight of his career.
The 24-year-old Williams has had a productive 2023 season with 360 rushing yards and six touchdowns through five games. In 2022, he totaled over 1,300 yards from scrimmage and earned a Pro Bowl nod. His dynamic style and ability to contribute both in the rushing and passing game make him a perfect fit for Payton’s coveted “joker” role, previously filled by stars like Alvin Kamara and Darren Sproles.
With Williams in the fold, the Broncos could finally have the offensive spark they’ve been searching for this season.
