Shocking News: Injured 27-Year-Old Rising Pitcher Dropped from Dodgers’ NLDS Roster, Replaced by Talented 25-Year-Old Rookie Veteran for Upcoming Game

Los Angeles Dodgers’ National League Division Series roster due to a shoulder injury and has been replaced by fellow right-hander Ben Casparius, the team announced Tuesday.

MLB medical director Dr. Gary Green confirmed the injury after reviewing Grove’s medical records, according to a statement from the commissioner’s office.

Grove appeared in Game 2 of the series on Sunday, pitching to two batters in the eighth inning during the Dodgers’ 10-2 loss to the San Diego Padres. He allowed a home run to Xander Bogaerts before striking out Jake Cronenworth.

Due to the injury, Grove will be ineligible to pitch in the NL Championship Series if the Dodgers advance, but he could potentially return for the World Series.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged the ongoing nature of Grove’s shoulder issues. “It’s something he’s been dealing with for a while,” Roberts said. “The recovery hasn’t been good. We understand what it costs us for the next round if he can’t be available. Michael’s very disappointed.”

The 27-year-old Grove finished the season with a 4-4 record and a 5.12 ERA, making two starts and appearing in 37 relief outings.

Taking his place, Ben Casparius, a 25-year-old rookie, made his MLB debut on August 31. He posted a 2-0 record with a 2.16 ERA in three relief appearances, striking out 12 and walking four over 8 1/3 innings.
