As the NFL trade deadline looms on November 5, Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan confirmed ongoing discussions with the Tennessee Titans regarding a potential deal for two of their wide receivers. While the Steelers have been heavily linked to Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams, the team is exploring alternative options should the Adams trade fall through.
The Steelers have been actively pursuing upgrades for their receiving corps, with Adams emerging as the top target. Reports suggest the Raiders are open to trading the All-Pro wide receiver, and Pittsburgh is among several teams—including the Jets, Ravens, Saints, and Bills—that have expressed interest. According to insiders, the Steelers are pushing the hardest to finalize a deal for Adams, but competition is fierce.
Despite the Steelers’ aggressive pursuit of Adams, the receiver has reportedly expressed a preference to reunite with Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets. If Pittsburgh cannot land Adams, they are expected to pivot quickly to other options, with two Titans receivers at the top of their list.
Treylon Burks: A Potential Buy-Low Option
One name mentioned as a potential backup plan is Treylon Burks, the Titans’ 2022 first-round pick. While Burks hasn’t lived up to expectations since being drafted, his potential remains high. Injuries and inconsistency have hampered his early career, but a change of scenery might be just what he needs to rejuvenate his performance.
With the Titans struggling early in the season and looking unlikely to make a playoff push, Burks could be available for a relatively low cost. Still on his rookie deal, Burks would be a low-risk, high-reward addition to the Steelers’ offense. His ability to develop in a new system, coupled with his affordable contract, makes him an attractive option if Pittsburgh misses out on Adams.
DeAndre Hopkins: A Veteran Rental Option
Another Titans receiver that could interest the Steelers is veteran DeAndre Hopkins. The former All-Pro is no longer the dominant force he once was, but he remains a productive player. Set to become a free agent at the end of the season, Hopkins represents a potential short-term solution for Pittsburgh.
Hopkins would bring valuable experience to the Steelers’ young receiving group, and his ability to make contested catches and provide a reliable target for quarterback Kenny Pickett could significantly boost the offense. If the Steelers can’t land Adams, Hopkins would be a logical fallback as a more affordable, rental option to strengthen the passing attack.
