Breaking: Head Coach Tomlin Breaks Silence on His Quarterback Preference and Shares Crucial Fitness Updates…

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has shed light on his quarterback preference for the upcoming Sunday night game against the Dallas Cowboys, where Justin Fields is expected to lead the team again. Tomlin confirmed that despite Russell Wilson ramping up his workload in practice, Fields will likely get the nod as the starter for the time being.

Russell Wilson, who has been sidelined due to a calf injury since the start of the season, is gradually increasing his practice activity. “He’ll have another strong workday today,” Tomlin shared during his press conference. “We’ll see how he feels in the morning, and let that guide his participation.” Tomlin emphasized the need to evaluate Wilson’s ability to move and function before making a decision on his game-time availability.

Meanwhile, Fields has stepped up, guiding the Steelers to a 3-1 record in Wilson’s absence. Despite a loss to the Colts last Sunday, Fields made franchise history by becoming the first Steelers player to throw for 300 yards, rush for 50 yards, and score two rushing touchdowns in a single game.

Tomlin acknowledged that at some point, Wilson’s availability may no longer factor into who starts at quarterback, but for now, that decision hasn’t been made. When asked how Fields could help him make that decision, Tomlin simply responded, “Play well. Win. That’s our business.”

Fields, though not flawless, is building a strong case to become Pittsburgh’s permanent starter. He has an opportunity to solidify that status in this week’s matchup against the Cowboys, who will be without key defensive players DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons due to injuries.

As things stand, Fields is expected to start once again on Sunday, while Wilson’s return remains in limbo.
