After a tough 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir had a message to share — one that served as both a reflection on the defeat and a warning to the New England Patriots ahead of their Week 4 matchup.
Taking to social media, Lenoir hinted at an old saying: “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.” This analogy seemed directed at the Rams, who capitalized on the 49ers’ failure to put them away early, but also carried a subtle caution for the Patriots, who will visit Levi’s Stadium next.
The 49ers, who jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter, found themselves unable to finish strong, allowing the injury-riddled Rams to stage a comeback. The loss dropped San Francisco to 1-2, leaving players like Lenoir frustrated by missed opportunities.
“This loss came from being too complacent,” Lenoir said post-game. “We should’ve put them away. We gave them hope and they were able to come back and win. It’s about finishing. We didn’t get the job done, and that’s why we took the L.”

With the Patriots looming in Week 4, the 49ers are looking to correct their mistakes and bounce back. Despite being heavy favorites, Lenoir’s cryptic warning serves as a reminder that in the NFL, anything can happen on “Any given Sunday.”
