The Detroit Red Wings have secured the services of 22-year-old forward Lucas Raymond for the long term, signing him to an eight-year, $64.6 million contract. The deal, announced Monday, solidifies Raymond as a key piece in head coach Derek Lalonde’s roster.
With an average annual value of $8.075 million, Raymond becomes the team’s second-highest paid player, trailing only captain Dylan Larkin, who earns $8.7 million per year. This signing strengthens the team’s core, with rumors that defenseman Moritz Seider could also ink a new deal in the coming days, just ahead of training camp starting Thursday.
Raymond’s commitment marks a major move for the Red Wings, as they continue to build a competitive roster for the future.
