Done Deal: Tom Thibodeau Received Major Boost as Knicks Officially Announce the Signing of the 35-year-old Experienced Veteran Star Player…

In a significant move for the New York Knicks, head coach Tom Thibodeau has received a major boost with the official signing of 35-year-old veteran forward Marcus Morris. After much speculation about his future, and rumors that he might reunite with his twin brother Markieff Morris in Dallas, Marcus has opted to return to the Knicks, where he briefly played during the 2019-20 season.

Marcus Morris signed an Exhibit 9 contract, a non-guaranteed training camp deal, with the Knicks. Although he spent last season split between the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers, his return to New York adds depth and experience to the Knicks’ roster. The Exhibit 9 contract suggests that Morris may not be a long-term fixture, but his presence could provide valuable leadership throughout training camp.

Markieff Morris, Marcus’ twin brother, recently re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks on a one-year, non-guaranteed deal after expressing interest in playing alongside Marcus once more before their careers come to a close. The twins, who were drafted back-to-back in the 2011 NBA Draft, haven’t played on the same team since their 2014-15 stint with the Phoenix Suns. While Markieff hoped for a Dallas reunion, Marcus has chosen a different path by returning to New York.

Markieff remains a key figure in the Mavericks’ locker room, bringing veteran leadership despite limited playing time. He was part of the Kyrie Irving trade in 2023, and while his on-court contributions have been sporadic, including a three-pointer in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, his championship experience with the Los Angeles Lakers adds value to the Mavericks’ bench.

For the Knicks, the addition of Marcus Morris strengthens their frontcourt, and while his future beyond training camp remains uncertain, his experience and toughness align with Thibodeau’s hard-nosed style of play. Knicks fans will be eager to see how Morris fits into the team’s plans as they prepare for the upcoming season.
