Done Deal: Duke Basketball Officially Announce the Signing of 2025 Elite Star to Bolster Squad for…

Duke basketball has officially advanced in the race for one of the nation’s top rising stars, Acaden Lewis, a dynamic guard from Sidwell Friends School (D.C.). The four-star guard, who has rapidly climbed the recruiting ranks, has narrowed his choices to four powerhouse programs, and Duke is right in the mix.

Although there has been minimal buzz about Duke’s pursuit of Lewis since he made an unofficial visit to Durham six weeks ago, Jon Scheyer and his staff are very much still in the running. On Saturday, Lewis revealed his final four, which included Duke alongside fellow bluebloods Kentucky, UNC, and reigning back-to-back national champion UConn.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard, once ranked No. 100 in the 247Sports 2025 Composite rankings, has seen his stock soar. He now sits at No. 36 overall, just outside five-star status, after impressing scouts with his speed, ball-handling, and versatility. Over the course of his recruitment, Lewis has received 29 offers, but his decision on Saturday slashed that number down to just four elite programs.

Duke extended their offer to Lewis back in late June, and the Blue Devils have remained firmly in contention ever since. For now, Lewis has only one official visit planned — a trip to UNC during the first weekend of October — leaving speculation about when he might visit Durham for an official look.

National recruiting expert Jamie Shaw from On3 recently offered a detailed scouting report on Lewis, noting his ability to thrive in various aspects of the game:

“The lefty is a crafty player, able to get to his spots into the teeth of the defense in the halfcourt. What makes him the biggest threat is his ability to keep his dribble live. Lewis finished with an array of floaters, finishes at the rim, or pull-up jump shots…Defensively, he was impressive, heating up the ball in the open floor and using his quick hands and feet to be pesky guarding the ball. He also distributed the ball well, showing comfort in the pick-and-roll and in the open floor.”

As Lewis inches closer to making his final decision, Duke remains one of the top contenders for this talented 2025 prospect. If Scheyer and his team can secure Lewis’ commitment, it would mark another huge win for the Blue Devils’ future roster. With his speed, defensive tenacity, and ability to score from all levels, Lewis could be a game-changer in the years to come.
