Done Deal: San Antonio Spurs Officially Announced the Addition of 3 Experienced Veteran Star Players to Bolster Gregg Popovich’s Squad…

The San Antonio Spurs have made three key offseason moves to bolster their organization, though these changes impact the front office and coaching staff rather than the on-court roster. Following their drafting of Stephon Castle, the trade for Harrison Barnes, and the signing of Chris Paul, the Spurs have turned their attention to strengthening their G League and development programs.

Scott King was recently hired as the head coach of the Austin Spurs, and the Spurs continued enhancing their G League operations by promoting Josh Larson to General Manager of the Austin Spurs and appointing former player Gorgui Dieng as assistant GM. Additionally, Mike Noyes has been brought on as an assistant coach and director of player development for the main San Antonio team.

Dieng, who spent 10 seasons in the NBA, retired after the 2022-23 season with the Spurs, where he played during two separate stints. After his playing career, he transitioned into a front-office role and was notably involved in the Spurs’ draft process when they selected Stephon Castle fourth overall in 2024.

Larson, who previously worked with the Austin Spurs as a basketball operations manager, has been promoted to GM, continuing the Spurs’ tradition of internal promotions. Meanwhile, Mike Noyes joins the Spurs’ coaching staff after serving six seasons as an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies. An alum of the University of Connecticut, Noyes played in 25 games over three seasons as a walk-on before earning a scholarship in his final year.

These moves aim to solidify the Spurs’ developmental pipeline and front-office leadership as they look to build both their current and future success.
