The Chicago Bulls have made a significant move by officially signing guard/forward Talen Horton-Tucker, according to the RealGM transactions log. Horton-Tucker, 23, is expected to join the team on an Exhibit 10 training camp contract, as reported by Keith Smith of Spotrac.
Recently waived by the Utah Jazz, the 6-foot-4 Horton-Tucker has also spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers. Last season, he averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists over 56 games with the Jazz, shooting 39.6% from the field and 33.0% from three-point range.
Despite only minimal interest from teams during free agency, Horton-Tucker’s addition to the Bulls presents him with an opportunity to make an impact. Given his versatility, scoring ability, and reputation as a hard-working, intelligent player, he has a legitimate chance to make the final roster. His positive locker room presence could also be a valuable asset as Chicago navigates an offseason of major changes.
The Bulls are undergoing a transition, having recently traded DeMar DeRozan to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team sign-and-trade deal, with rumors suggesting that Zach LaVine and possibly Nikola Vucevic are also on the trading block. Additionally, Alex Caruso was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Josh Giddey.
Currently, the Bulls have 14 players with guaranteed contracts heading into training camp, leaving Horton-Tucker in a strong position to earn his spot as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
