The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a key move to boost their defense, re-signing 27-year-old safety Terrell Edmunds. The former first-round pick is returning to the team after a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad.
Edmunds, originally drafted 28th overall by the Steelers in 2018, brings five years of experience with the team, where he made a significant impact by appearing in 79 games with 75 starts. During his tenure, he recorded 26 passes defensed and five interceptions, proving to be a reliable presence in Pittsburgh’s secondary.
After splitting the 2023 season between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans, Edmunds signed with Jacksonville in May but didn’t make the final 53-man roster. He was elevated from the practice squad for the Jaguars’ season opener, playing six defensive snaps.
Now, Edmunds returns to the Steelers, where his experience and familiarity with the system will provide a valuable boost to the defense. His re-signing adds depth and versatility as Pittsburgh prepares for Week 2’s matchup against the Denver Broncos.
This reunion offers Edmunds a chance to reclaim his role in Pittsburgh and contribute to a team looking to solidify its defensive unit for the 2024 season.
