Breaking News: Raptors Officially Announced the Signing of the 25-year-old Star Player…

The Toronto Raptors have officially announced the addition of a new player to their roster. According to an official team statement, the Raptors have signed Jared Rhoden to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Rhoden, soon to turn 25, entered the NBA as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Pistons. Over 31 games with the Pistons, Rhoden averaged 4.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 45.5% from the field, including 33.3% from three-point range.

With this signing, the Raptors now have 21 players heading into training camp, reaching the maximum allowed. Of those, 14 contracts are fully guaranteed.

What Jared Rhoden Brings to the Raptors

While Rhoden is unlikely to make the final roster this season, given his Exhibit 10 contract, a role in the G League seems like a strong possibility. Standing at 6’6”, Rhoden is a versatile wing who can contribute on both ends of the floor. He’s a solid scorer with an improving jump shot and has the potential to be a valuable 3-and-D player. His athleticism and energy further enhance his game, making him a low-risk, high-reward signing for the Raptors.

Although his chances of cracking the regular-season lineup are slim, Rhoden’s presence in the G League could allow him to develop his skills and eventually earn a spot in the NBA.

A Busy Offseason for the Raptors

The Raptors’ offseason has been eventful, with notable moves including the long-term contract extension for rising star Scottie Barnes, the most expensive deal in franchise history. Toronto also re-signed Immanuel Quickley and veteran Garrett Temple, while adding guard Ja’Kobe Walter with the 19th overall pick in the draft. In the second round, they selected Jonathan Mogbo, Ulrich Chomche, and Jamal Shead.

Other notable transactions include the signing of center Bruno Fernando and acquiring guard Davion Mitchell in a trade with the Sacramento Kings. However, the Raptors have also lost several key players. Jordan Nwora, acquired from the Indiana Pacers in the Pascal Siakam trade, signed with a Turkish team. They also traded Jalen McDaniels to the Kings as part of the deal for Mitchell, while their most significant departure was Gary Trent Jr., who joined the Milwaukee Bucks.

Raptors’ Outlook After the Rhoden Signing

The Raptors finished last season with a 25-57 record, securing the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference, marking their second consecutive year missing the playoffs. While the team appears to be in rebuilding mode, there is still a lot of excitement surrounding the young talent and future prospects in Toronto.
