Sad News: Manager Rob Thomson Shares Worrying Updates as Phillies’ Lost Another Experienced Star Player to a Critical  Injury…

Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper exited Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a potentially serious elbow injury after being hit by a pitch in the first inning.

Harper was struck on his left elbow by a 92.9 mph fastball from Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis. The Phillies later announced that Harper suffered a left elbow contusion and will undergo further tests. He was replaced by Edmundo Sosa in the third inning.

Although Harper told reporters he felt “fine” after the game, manager Rob Thomson expressed concerns about the injury. Thomson also noted that, for now, there are no immediate plans to rest Harper.

This latest injury adds to Harper’s ongoing struggles, as he’s been playing through wrist and elbow irritation. Just a day prior, Harper was seen in visible discomfort after a swing, though he returned to the lineup the next day.

Harper is no stranger to elbow issues. He underwent Tommy John surgery before the 2023 season but made a remarkable recovery to return ahead of schedule.

Despite his injury troubles, Harper was named to his eighth MLB All-Star team this season, and his contributions have been critical as the Phillies push for their first NL East title since 2011. They entered Wednesday’s game with a strong 82-56 record, holding a seven-game lead over the Atlanta Braves.
