Two-time NBA Dunk Contest champion Mac McClung is set to return to the Orlando Magic’s training camp this fall, with a likely assignment to their G-League affiliate, the Osceola Magic, for a second consecutive year.
McClung has agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Magic, as first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic and later confirmed by Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. This type of contract brings McClung into training camp, and although it’s unlikely he’ll earn a spot on the NBA roster, he will receive a bonus of up to $77,500 for joining the Magic’s G-League team.
With the Magic already holding 15 fully guaranteed contracts for the upcoming season, McClung’s path to the NBA roster would require the team to release a player or for an injury to create an opening.
Last season, McClung was named G-League MVP, putting up impressive numbers with 25.7 points and 6.6 assists per game while shooting 36% from beyond the arc. However, despite his strong performance, he was not called up to the NBA by the Magic or any other team.
Since going undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2021, McClung has been on the edge of the NBA, signing short-term contracts with the Lakers, Bulls, and 76ers, and spending time with the Warriors and Magic organizations. He has appeared in just four NBA games, totaling 65 minutes on the court.
