As the Tennessee Titans gear up for their Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears, both teams are entering the 2024 season with a shared goal: proving that their young quarterbacks are the future of their franchises.
Will Levis of the Titans and Caleb Williams of the Bears have both demonstrated exceptional talent and are surrounded by a strong supporting cast. However, the Titans just received major news that could shift the momentum in their favor.
Massive Update on DeAndre Hopkins Ahead of Week 1
Star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was initially expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering a knee injury in late July, might be ready to suit up sooner than expected. With the Titans’ season opener against the Bears set for Sunday, Hopkins is reportedly making significant progress in his recovery.
During Wednesday’s practice, head coach Brian Callahan noted that Hopkins appeared to be in top form. “He looked like Hop,” Callahan said, according to ESPN’s Turron Davenport.
Callahan added that Hopkins has been proactive in communicating his physical condition and is doing everything necessary to prepare for Week 1. “Everything he’s done has been exactly what we’re looking for in terms of communication and process,” Callahan emphasized.
While Hopkins’ availability for the season opener has yet to be officially confirmed, the Titans are optimistic. Callahan mentioned that a final decision on Hopkins’ status will be made closer to game day.
Impact of Hopkins’ Return
If Hopkins is cleared to play, Tennessee’s offense will have a significant boost. Over the past three seasons, Hopkins has averaged:
- 99 targets per season
- 60 receptions per season
- 782 yards per season
- 6 touchdowns per season
Getting Hopkins back on the field will be a huge advantage for the Titans, especially with a young quarterback like Levis at the helm. His presence as a reliable and experienced playmaker will be crucial as Tennessee looks to start the season strong against the Bears.
