Good News: Boston Bruins Officially Announced the Signing of the 34-year-old Experienced Veteran Star Player…

The Boston Bruins have made a significant move by bringing in a two-time Stanley Cup champion on a professional tryout contract.

On Saturday afternoon, the Bruins officially announced the signing of veteran forward Tyler Johnson to a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO). Johnson will join the team for training camp next month and participate in preseason games, aiming to secure a spot on the roster for the 2024-25 season.

“Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, August 31, that the team has signed forward Tyler Johnson to a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO),” the Bruins shared in their announcement.

Johnson, 34, has spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks after being traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he played for nearly a decade and won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021.

In the previous season, the Spokane, Washington native appeared in 67 games for the Blackhawks, recording 31 points (17 goals, 14 assists), 26 penalty minutes, and a minus-35 rating.

As the Bruins look to stay competitive in the tough Atlantic Division, adding a player like Tyler Johnson is a smart move for depth. If Johnson earns a contract out of training camp, he’s expected to play a bottom-six role for the team, potentially appearing in 60+ games during the 2024-25 season.
