Good News: 5-Star Wide Receiver Commits to Texas Longhorns Over Auburn, Canes and Vols…

The Texas Longhorns continue to make waves on the recruiting trail, securing their third five-star commitment this August. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have struck gold again, this time landing Jaime Ffrench, a standout receiver from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, FL.

On Friday morning, Ffrench announced his commitment to Texas, choosing the Longhorns over strong offers from LSU, Tennessee, and Miami. This marks a significant addition to the Longhorns’ already impressive 2025 class, which now includes three five-star prospects. Ffrench joins safety Jonah Williams, who committed on August 24, and fellow receiver Kaliq Lockett, who pledged on August 7.

In an interview with On3 earlier this year, Ffrench shared what drew him to Texas, highlighting the strong sense of community and commitment from the coaching staff. “Really just the family feeling,” Ffrench explained. “They jumped on me quick, and they stayed on us. It feels like an open family there. Coach Chris Jackson, and Coach Sark… they all play a big part. Coach Perry, the recruiting director, all of them. They’re all part of it.”

Ffrench, now the 19th commitment for Texas in the 2025 class, is ranked as a five-star recruit and holds the No. 23 spot nationally, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 5 wide receiver and the No. 4 player in Florida. Known for his exceptional route-running, strong hands, and ability to make contested catches, Ffrench is considered one of the most skilled receivers in high school football, regardless of class.

Last season, Ffrench was a dominant force at Mandarin, recording 62 catches for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. In his sophomore year, he notched 44 receptions for 671 yards and five touchdowns. His pairing with the physically gifted Lockett in Austin is expected to create one of the most formidable receiving duos in the nation.

With Ffrench’s commitment, the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class continues to gain momentum, solidifying Texas as a powerhouse on the recruiting front.
