Sad News: Los Angeles Rams Waived Another Experienced Defensive Star Due to…

As the 2024 NFL Regular Season approaches, with the Kansas City Chiefs set to face the Baltimore Ravens on September 5, players across the league—both rookies and veterans—are battling for a spot on their respective teams. With preseason winding down, roster cuts are happening nationwide, leaving many players searching for new opportunities.

Among those affected is former Florida State standout defensive lineman Keir Thomas, who was recently cut by the Los Angeles Rams, as reported by NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

“Rams waive DE Keir Thomas per a league source,” Wilson shared on Twitter.

Thomas spent two seasons with the Rams, appearing in 16 games and tallying 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits in a backup role. During this preseason, he played in all three games, recording four tackles across 139 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. The 6’2″, 260-pound Miami native transferred to Florida State in 2021, where he started all 12 games, registering 42 tackles, including 12 for loss, 6.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, and one pass breakup. He joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

While Thomas’s future with the Rams remains uncertain, there’s a possibility he could return to their practice squad, where he’s already spent time early in his NFL career. Meanwhile, fellow former Seminoles Jared Verse and Braden Fiske are projected to start on the Rams’ defense.

With over 16 former FSU players vying for spots on NFL rosters, more moves involving Seminoles in the league are likely in the coming days.
