The Miami Heat currently find themselves in a state of stagnation. While other teams have made significant moves this offseason, the Heat seem to have remained still. The Philadelphia 76ers secured Paul George, the New York Knicks added Mikal Bridges, and the Boston Celtics are the reigning champions. Meanwhile, the Heat’s most notable offseason addition has been Alec Burks, a reliable 33-year-old player, but not someone who can single-handedly transform them into title contenders. To make matters worse, the Heat roster has arguably weakened following Caleb Martin’s departure to the 76ers.
The Heat aren’t the only team facing such challenges. The Denver Nuggets, who defeated the Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals, are also feeling the pressure. Despite winning their first-ever championship just a year ago, the Nuggets have seen key players depart, and other teams appear to have overtaken them in the NBA hierarchy. This situation raises the question: Could a blockbuster trade be on the horizon to shake things up?
Ishaan Bhattacharya of FadeAway World recently proposed a bold three-team trade scenario. In this trade, the Heat would acquire Jamal Murray, Kelly Olynyk, and Julian Strawther. The Nuggets, in turn, would receive Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, Josh Richardson, and a 2029 first-round pick from Miami. The Toronto Raptors would land Duncan Robinson, a 2026 second-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers, and a 2031 second-round pick from Denver.
Bhattacharya commented on the proposal, stating, “The likelihood of the Nuggets breaking up the Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray duo is nearly zero, but it’s interesting to see what the Nuggets could try to fetch in hypothetical deals made by fans. This deal gets the Nuggets robust rotational depth while adding a pick, with the Heat adding multiple win-now pieces in a deal also featuring the Raptors.”
While this trade suggestion is certainly ambitious and highly unlikely, it sparks intrigue about what moves teams like the Nuggets and Heat might consider as they navigate the rapidly evolving NBA landscape.
