Latest Bruins Updates: Boston Bruins GM Officially Announced the Signing of a No. 1 Goaltender into their net for the 2024-25 Season…

As the NHL offseason winds down, the Boston Bruins still haven’t solidified their goaltending situation for the 2024-25 season. Star goaltender Jeremy Swayman remains unsigned as a restricted free agent, with contract talks stretching throughout the summer. With training camp fast approaching in September, the Bruins have yet to lock in their No. 1 goalie.

On August 22, Bruins General Manager Cam Neely appeared on WZLX’s The Rich Shertenlieb Show to discuss the ongoing negotiations. While Neely offered some reassurance, he acknowledged that the situation remains unresolved.

“Something will get done. There’s no question,” Neely stated. “Not every negotiation is as smooth as you’d like it to be. I know our fan base would certainly love to have something done by now. But I’m fully confident that both sides will come to an agreement before too long here.”

Swayman, who is coming off an impressive regular season with a 25-10-8 record, a .916 save percentage, and a 2.53 GAA across 44 games, further solidified his status with a stellar postseason performance. He led all goaltenders with a .933 save percentage and a 2.15 GAA, making him a crucial piece for the Bruins moving forward.

The Bruins are looking to secure Swayman with a long-term deal that will carry him through his prime years. With $8.6 million in salary cap space, according to PuckPedia, the team appears to have the financial flexibility needed to finalize the contract.

Despite the ongoing delay, Neely’s confidence suggests that progress is being made and that an agreement with Swayman will likely be reached before the start of the new season.
