Good News: Suns Announced the Addition of Another Experienced Superstar to Boast Offensive Weapon Kevin Durant…

When it comes to offense, the Phoenix Suns are undoubtedly loaded. With names like Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal on the roster, it’s clear why the Suns are considered an offensive juggernaut.

The team has also brought in a new offensive-minded coach, Mike Budenholzer, and added Tyus Jones, formerly of the Wizards, to orchestrate the offense.

However, the big question remains: What about the defense?

While the Suns’ offensive potential is undeniable, their defensive capabilities have raised some concerns. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report highlighted these issues, noting the potential vulnerabilities the Suns might face on the other end of the court.

“Tyus Jones and Monte Morris are two of the most reliable game-managing point guards in recent seasons, and they’ll help organize the Phoenix Suns offense, making life easier for Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal,” Hughes wrote. “But those two will also present undersized targets for opponents to attack, and switching schemes might not be viable at all. Concerns about Jusuf Nurkic’s lack of lift have been around for a while. Even though he’s produced elite Defensive Estimated Plus/Minus figures in six of his 10 career seasons, including last year, he still seems vulnerable in space against quick guards and lob-catchers.

“Durant is a year older, Beal probably can’t handle a full season of two-way play given his injury history, and Phoenix’s backup bigs — Mason Plumlee and Bol Bol — aren’t exactly known for their defensive prowess.

“The Suns finished a surprising 12th in defensive efficiency last year, and they’ll need to be at least that good to be considered serious contenders in the postseason.”

Last season, the Suns were swept out of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs by the Timberwolves, largely due to their inability to contain Minnesota’s offense.

Will Phoenix improve defensively this year? Only time will tell. As the saying goes, that’s why they play the games. We’ll soon find out if the Suns can balance their explosive offense with a solid defense and make a deep playoff run.
