The Vegas Golden Knights have made an exciting move, officially announcing the addition of 32-year-old veteran forward Tanner Pearson on a Professional Tryout Offer (PTO). Pearson, who spent last season with the Montreal Canadiens, recorded five goals and eight assists over 54 games. Now, he will be vying for a spot on the Golden Knights’ roster as he seeks to continue his NHL career.
Drafted 30th overall in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Pearson brings a wealth of experience to Vegas. Over 11 seasons, he has played for four NHL teams—Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, and Montreal—and won a Stanley Cup with the Kings in 2014. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, the left winger has tallied 138 goals and 147 assists in 644 regular-season games, along with nine goals and 14 assists in 51 playoff appearances.
As Pearson competes for a fourth-line spot on the Golden Knights for the upcoming 2024-25 season, he aims to prove his worth once more. Last season with Montreal, he averaged 12:56 of ice time per game but finished with a minus-12 rating. The Kitchener, Ontario native faced significant challenges during the 2022-23 season, including a hand injury that required multiple surgeries. Despite these setbacks, Pearson earned $3.25 million last season before becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Fans and analysts will be watching closely as Pearson attempts to secure his place in the Golden Knights’ lineup and contribute to their ongoing success in the NHL.
