BREAKING: Miami Football Confirms 5-stars commitment Over Colorado, Houston, Texas Longhorns, and Auburn…

The Miami Hurricanes have made significant strides in their recruiting efforts, landing two major commitments over the weekend. The first came on Friday, when three-star defensive lineman Mykah Newman flipped his commitment from NC State to Miami. This was followed by a big win on Saturday as the Hurricanes secured a commitment from four-star safety Bryce Fitzgerald from Miami Columbus.

Mykah Newman, standing at 6-2 and weighing 255 pounds, is entering his senior year at Newberry High in north Florida with impressive stats—27 career sacks and 45 tackles for loss. As a junior, Newman led his team with 13 sacks and added 26 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and 62 total tackles. According to 247Sports, Newman is noted for his quickness, versatility, and potential to be a multi-year contributor at the Power Four level.

Bryce Fitzgerald, ranked as the No. 12 safety in his class and the No. 21 overall prospect in Florida, had a breakout junior year after transferring to Columbus from Miami Belen Jesuit. He recorded an astonishing 10 interceptions, five of which came during the playoffs, helping his team secure their second consecutive state title. Fitzgerald also plays wide receiver and is a key player on Columbus’ three-time state champion basketball team. His dual experience as a receiver and defensive back gives him a unique perspective on the game, allowing him to anticipate and counter offensive moves effectively.

These commitments bolster Miami’s 2025 recruiting class, which now includes 22 pledges. This class is currently ranked No. 5 nationally by Rivals, No. 9 by 247Sports, and No. 10 by On3. Among these 22 commitments, eight have joined in the past two months, including notable names like four-star offensive lineman Seuseu Alofaituli, four-star linebacker Gavin Nix, and four-star athlete Hylton Stubbs.

Miami’s recruiting success is further highlighted by the strong local presence in their class, with five commits hailing from Miami-Dade and Broward counties, including Fitzgerald, four-star wide receiver Amari Wallace, and three-star linebacker Ezekial Marcelin.

As the Florida high school football season kicks off, many of Miami’s commits will be in action. This includes games at the Broward Showcase, where Plantation American Heritage and Bishop Gorman will take on top-tier competition, and matchups featuring Columbus and Miami Central.

With these latest additions, the Miami Hurricanes continue to build a formidable roster, positioning themselves as a major force in college football recruiting.
